Usually I feel like dark books in this kind of genre are via perspective of the individual experiencing the dark feelings. Someth I am super stoked and thankful to have won a signed copy of this book! Something else I really liked about the way the book was laid out was the illustrations of Tripsy throughout. It better helps to outline her personality and makes her more "known" to the reader.. Through all the therapy sessions between Jon and Tripsy, they really do have a lot to learn from each other. Read through to the end.. A novel about love and teen suicide, funny and witty!

Just like a typical teenager, she thinks that people are dumb and that life might not be worth living. Having been around the block with visits to therapists, Tripsy ends up in the office of Dr. Jon Moore, a licensed therapist who specializes in suicidal teenagers.

Tripsy tells Dr. Moore will have to work through his own demons from an emotionally-abusive childhood to find a way to understand Tripsy, a patient who is completely different than all his previous ones. The mere fact that Tripsy has been in his presence sets him a little off in his daily life, but their discussions, or lack of, in each session cause Dr. From the first page, the reader should be prepared to read about the dark topic of suicide. It gets a little graphic in the parts that Tripsy goes into detail explaining things during the sessions.

There is also reference to and use of drugs, mainly marijuana, by both teenagers and adults.

Tripsy Review: The Ultimate Trip Planner for iPhone and iPad

Throughout the whole story there is adult language starting mainly from Tripsy, but spreading as the book progresses to other characters. Even though I know suicide is very prevalent among teenagers and adults alike, if given the choice, I would prefer not to have to read about it. With the reader knowing and remembering that this story is meant to be a satire, it still did not read well to me.

If you do enjoy this story and want to read more about Tripsy, look for her next book coming out, "Darlington". May 27, Helgaleena Healingline rated it liked it. This book is a heavily camouflaged autobiography. The author, whose own longstanding psychological complexes have never been addressed and tinge every damn word, had a mid-life crisis that manifested as a face-to-face- meeting with his own anima. You know, the Jungian archetype of the feminine side of the psyche. Since he specialized in treating teen children in a wealthy suburb, that is how she appeared.

As I read, and also viewed the very flattering line drawings probably done by the author hi This book is a heavily camouflaged autobiography. As I read, and also viewed the very flattering line drawings probably done by the author himself, I could never find a single clue that he was speaking to anything but a projection on the cave wall of his own huge ego. What is more, the distilled contempt in his descriptions of absolutely every other human being in the narrative with the exception of his 'Tripsy' reveals deep narcissism typical of thwarted artistic types.

I had terrible trouble feeling amused by this tale. In fact, only if I interpreted it as a hallucinatory journey akin to Castaneda could I bring myself to finish it.. This is an American who has never left California, I suspect, except in his dreams. That's okay. It may be that he and Tripsy speak to a certain Californian spirit and it need not be useful farther afield.

The ending and appendices are wholly wish fulfillment and worthless. Jul 03, Colleen added it Shelves: giveaways , owned-but-gave-away , dnf-d. First I would like to thank the author for signing my book and I would have loved to have opened the sealed envelope, but I saved that for the friend that I passed this onto. And secondly I will not be giving a star rating because it is not fair to the author since I did not finish the book.

I was so excited for this book and thought it was going to be a memoir by someone who had attempted suicide or had thought about committing suicide and their year looking back and exploring everything, from their thoughts, feelings, triggers, etc.

Tripsy Stories - Misty Mahabaleshwar in Monsoons - Tripoto

Told to the reader in a comedic as in laugh about it years after the fact sarcastic way. Instead what I found was some drawn out and very wordy internal thoughts from the psychologists point of view. And the main character was, to me, annoying most of the time. I did enjoy her interaction with outside characters. Both of my children have had close friends and acquaintances commit suicide. So I really do hope that this book hits home with a lot of people.

May 05, Katherine rated it liked it. This book is fiction which some reviewers seem to have missed.

It is satirical but is meant to make you think. It is presented as the notes and recreations of a year of therapy for a teenage girl. Through these you can see the girl getting increasingly frustrated with life but also you experience the confusion and introspection of the psychiatrist as well as him being emotionally drawn to this girl. To me suicidetango was not a truly enjoyable read but it will stick with me and it has definitely made me think differently about teenagers and suicide.

WOW, this is a surprising and hard to categorize book. The story is intense from the first page, and then the reader is taken down a truthful and emotionally bare path. For those people who have never thought about suicide, the ideas are completely surprising and eye-opening. But whatever your past and your mental health situation, this whole book is triggering, important, but triggering.

I don't know what else to say without giving away much, though I need to say that you will feel sad.

I would recommend this to parents of teens, certainly. Jun 21, Rebecca Wright rated it did not like it. I highly dislike this book. It is arrogant, badly written and yet uses complicated and archaic language which the reader is simply expected to comprehend. The author appears convinced they are far more intelligent than readers, and the obvious basking in this takes away from the story.

Quirky, funny, witty. Tripsy South is caustic and annoying at times, but she has a point she wants to make.
